boys & chicks!

Well after lunch we ( Christina, Kevin and myself) went to pick up their new chickens....They are now known as Ada & Rocky...the chickens not the kids....of course they (the chickens) have to stay here on the ranch...Although the kids would love to stay here as well....and they both refer to here as home...How could we ( John& I) be luckier....? As you can see by the smiles everyone is happy to be here.... This evening as it was getting dark and I was in the kitchen fixing hubby his supper I got the feeling I was being watched...I was on the phone with Ang and turned around while on speaker phone to see these two chickens ( Ada & Rocky) making their way across the dinning room carpet and straight into the kitchen ...I had to inform Ang that I had to get them out befor hubby found them in his kitchen....I am pretty certain that he would say that the only chicken in the kitchen best be in the fridge or on its way to hubbies plate for supper.....I am certain he would not be pleased with them coming to sit on my lap.... So later tonight after feeding I was out on the porch smoking a cigarette and on the phone again with Ang..( stocking?) when hubby came out to find the two chickens on my chest all snuggled up.....well to my shock hubbby ask to hold one....( I was hoping he would not give them the heave ho off the porch) he took the rooster and held him and then took the hen and she crawled right into his shirt and settled down right there...We ( John& I) got a box and was going to put them in a roost....which they jumped out of ...to only follow us, then onto a bench...hubby put hand out and both went for more snuggle time...we finally put them up in a tree and we returned back to the house. I should think that I will be able to train them....the chickens not the hubby or the kids... Posted by Picasa

Cat tally

Alright now who told our three ranch cats to start a killing spree? I am aware ( sorta) that at times Thomas, Slinky and Charlie will kill all sorts of things......this week the thrill kill talley is as follows...

1) Bat (cute) downstairs office area
2) Mole ( huge) front door
3) Mouse ( little) next to back porch
4) Bunny ( evidance only) carport
5) Vole ( cute) left in window frame (?)
6) Bird ( evidance) in barn feathers flying
7) feild mice at least 5 on parts of driveway

Now this mind you is the 6 day count that I saw, I am rather certain that they have killed more..

We are all tired and it took me the better part of 10 minutes to get hubby out the door, again running late...he always makes it on time but he was rushed (bad) I managed to get him fed, lunch packed up and out the door in ten minutes...I do beleive it might be a record for us...

A nice sunny day to which I am greatful for as soon it will be fall and the rains will dampen the ground as well as the spirits.......We will go to barn and get the car port and garden shed cleaned up .....wish us luck...

my breakfast consisted of English Muffin piled with Christinas amazing jam....MY BEST STUDENT YET......

Hope you all stop my Inklings blog.....she is well and putting up some things for winter as well ( I beleive)

Ang & hubby are well ...kills to driving her a bit bonkers....That really means hubby is well...

Bondo will be packing soon , leaving for California for some time ( maybe for good) and will be missed dearly by my hubby....Hubby does not like being THIS FAR (4 hours away) and now he will be gone even further....the good news is ang will be putting web cam up for hubby...so now he will be able to have a virtual dinner party with Bondo.....

I have visions of them pointing web cam to the bbq then to the pasta and the final shot downing an ice cold beer..........

What more Jam?

Well as you know Christina and I made jam today after picking all the blackberries on our ranch...We had enough for 4 batches totaling some 26 jars and a jar of syrup .....Now blackberry bushes have a way of eating you and attacking ones body...I being the stubburn bull head that I am refused to wear long sleeves andd Christina was in a tank top...I figured I had already been beat and bruised as it was , why not add ripped torn and bleeding to the weekend...We talked for hours about boys, life and being married.....Anyway we filled every last bowl up and started our life lessons...YES jam magic is a life lesson...and

I have to say I was pleased to pass along a gift that had been given to me by my mother. We have no children and we are at a point we know we wont....and so it was with joy I was able give this gift to a girl who dreams of being married someday and wants to know how to do things.....lost art or not she learned well and made amazing jam batch after batch....
I hope that if her mum ever stumbled upon this site ( blog) that I think her young daughter is a treat to have around.

the house is just now quiet and everyone is settling in for the night and I bid you all sweet dreams........
